Tips on How to have Drama-Free Girls Trip
A girl’s trip is often more than just a getaway; it is a chance to create lasting memories, strengthen friendships, and escape the daily grind. Whether it’s a weekend retreat to a cozy cabin in the woods, a beach vacation, or a city exploration, the essence of a girl’s trip lies in the shared experiences. We have heard some horror stories about Girls Trips going wrong and friendships ending over these vacation moments. I’ve planned and participated in many Girls trips and here’s tips on how to have a drama-free girl’s trip:
Assign a Travel Manager
Treat the trip like a work project and assign a travel manager for the trip. The travel manager will be everyone’s point of contact and take the role of project manager. In a professional sense a project manager plans, leads, execute, and oversee a projects to ensure successful completion on time and within budget. For a girls trip, the Travel Manager will plan, execute, and oversee the trip within discussed budget and in a timely manner. The Travel Manager will handle all discussed bookings, money allocation, and due dates.
Create Survey
As a travel manager, I usually start with a survey asking a variety of questions to gage everyone’s expectations and interests. Some questions might include, how much are you willing to spend in accommodation, what are some must-haves for accommodation, what activities must you complete during this trip, etc. Creating a survey on Google forms is effective and essential for girls trip. I set a due date for survey and share the results sigh everyone. Based upon the majority, decisions are made about vacation dates, accommodation, activities, and budget.
Create Payment Schedule
Most trips are drama or disastrous because of money or lack thereof. I went on a trip to Miami where a friend of a friend went to blood bank to give blood in order to have money for some activities. In order to solve monetary issues for girls trips, create a payment schedule of when money is due for accommodations, activities, outfits, etc. This payment schedule should consist of specified amount due, what the payment is for, and due date. Remember, most accommodations and activities are non-refundable after a certain time. If someone is not able to pay on the payment date, they lose their spot on the trip. If someone cannot make the trip last minute, no refunds are given. Creating these rigid yet necessary expectations alleviates drama and resentment surrounding money for girls trip.
Create Itinerary
I am an itinerary queen especially for girls trips. The itinerary provides details on accommodation, activities, budget, color coordination, etc. An itinerary helps everyone have a map of the days of the trip so there isn’t any surprises. I include rest days or moments within the itinerary so no one is feeling overwhelmed by the amount of activities. An itinerary helps the girls know what to pack and what to wear based on days and activities. It also serves as a reminder of payment amounts for activities, dinner, etc.
Be Adaptable
The best girls trips are when everyone is able to adapt to the “culture” and vibe of the trip. Some trips will be turn-up or outside trips, while other trips will focus on zen and relaxation. Be ready to adapt to both aspects. If the trip is for someone special, be ready to accommodate the special occasion and accommodate the lady of the trip. Everything on the itinerary may not interest you but try some activities within reason. Or explain to Travel Manager before the activities are booked that you will not participate in specific activities.
Planning such a trip can start with gathering ideas from each participant. Overall, the goal is to have successful girls trip that rejuvenates, brings joy, and connect with your girls.
