How to Spend a Week in Colorado
Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, Colorado offers winter activities like skiing at renowned resorts such as Aspen and Vail, as well as hiking and camping in summer. In addition to its natural beauty, Colorado has a vibrant cultural scene in cities like Denver which offer art galleries, outdoor adventures, and cultural experiences. As a Black Lux woman, Colorado provides escape and fun. I recommend staying in Colorado for a week to experience the adventures. Here’s how to spend a week in Colorado:
Eat a Mimosas.
Hours: 8am-3pm
Price: $25-$40
Mimosas is a black-owned Brunch spot in Denver that opened in 2020. This urban eatery serves homemade classics and speciality mimosas. Some food options include biscuits, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and omelettes. Some speciality mimosas include classy, boujee, ratchet with an option of flights for all. The prices are reasonable: about $10 for mimosa and $20 for meal. Sip your mimosa while listening to Kendrick and Sza.
2. Visit Museum for Black Girls

Museum for Black Girls is an immersive museum that celebrates the art, culture, and heritage of Black women. The museum highlights the history and legacy of Black women. The exhibit includes collage of Black magazines, love letters to Black women, and plenty of self-affirmation displays.

Visit this nightclub for hip-hop and r&b on Friday and Saturday This is a great place to get drinks and vibe out. The best time to go is around 10pm
4. Go to Mountains and Ski.

Drive about two hours from Denver and go Skiing in Keystone, Colorado. Because of it’s beautiful mountains and wintery mix, the mountains in Colorado is perfect for skiing. If you have never tried skiing, I would recommend lesson with instructor. Make sure you bring proper ski gear (check out article about ski gear). This is a fun, yet intensive sport so be prepared to fall many times. Colorado is the best place to try skiing for the first time.
5. Go to Mountains and Ride Snowmobile

Another option is to try Snowmobiling in Breckenridge (about 30 minutes from Keystone). Snowmobiling is ATVs in the snow. It is a fun group activity to participate in while in the mountains. I would recommend a guided tour with snowmobiles into the mountains. Add this adventure to your Colorado itinerary.
From exhilarating outdoor adventures to stunning landscapes, Colorado offers a diverse range of experiences for every explorer. Whether hitting the Black Girls Museum, skiing down a slope, or simply scenic drives that showcase its natural beauty, spend a week in Colorado.
