NORMALIZING BLACK WOMEN IN LUXURY: RICH GIRLS MUSEUM

Black women and luxury has not always been synonymous. Last year, black women spoke up about social justice, rights and normalizing black women deserving luxury lifestyle. Black women and birkin bags have trended on various social media outlets. I stan for normalizing black women living a luxurious lifestyle. I stan for the "bougie" black girl. Because I am her and she is me. I used to get offended being called "bougie" but as I learned my own value, I realized it was a compliment. A compliment of the high value and standards my family set for me as a black woman. Valuing hard work and being spoiled is a luxury standard.

The Rich Girls Museum in North Carolina encompassed these values in a fun, millennial, photo op experience. The museum had many cool and interesting installations to match the rich girl, luxury vibe. The museum had many installations but I will be highlighting my favorite three installations.

The Corvette

"Corvette, Corvette." Thanks Tik Tok for the dance. The corvette was a great addition to the museum. I was able to get inside the corvette, play around with the dash and take photos. The corvette is considered as a luxury sports car with a price tag around $60,000.

The corvette represents comfort and extravagance that matches a particular lifestyle. Most men dream of driving a corvette with a woman riding shotgun however, I believe the luxurious black woman deserve to be in the driver seat. The Rich Girls Museum made sure every woman was in the driver seat to embrace the life of luxury.

Pink Airplane

I probably was most excited to visit and take photos of this installation as an avid traveler. The pink seats were first class status with the "you can't sit with us" vibes. The pink airplane with pink seats is exclusive and opulent. Luxury is always exclusive. Luxury represents an exclusive society that everyone wants to imitate but could never properly duplicate.

And that is the identity of black women. Black women are already luxury because black women are often imitated but could never be duplicated. Black women have often allowed everyone to sit with them in life, however that have led to many physical, emotional, mental and financial burnouts. So I declare black women the space and grace to tell the rest of the world:

YOU CAN'T SIT WITH US.

The Rich Girls Museum implemented the luxurious first class pink airplane seats to remind women to remain first class in their own lives.

Dirty Money

Of course this was my favorite room in the museum. Who doesn't like seeing money scattered all over a room? The dirty money room included a washer, laundry basket and "dirty" light installation on the wall. Money is always luxury because it means rich.

Black women have been called "gold diggers" by media and the world if she wants to date a man who is successful and rich. And that's what makes the money "dirty money." Black women have not been able to have a standard in dating and marriage. She must accept the bare minimum. Black women deserve the money and the right to date a successful man because she is luxury. Black women deserve "dirty money" because she's the most educated group in America. She actually cleanse the money through her education and own ranks.

Call the money clean or dirty, black women deserves all of it and the man attached to it. The Rich Girls Museum created this installation to remind women that a luxurious woman always stay in her bag and not to accept the bare minimum.

Rich Girls Museum is black owned and a perfect fit for any black woman, but especially the bougie queens. Go visit and support the black women in luxury lifestyle. Check out website here: https://richgirlsmuseum.com/
