TOP DMV STAYCATION IDEAS

Travel has become expensive-flights rates are increasing by the minute because of oil prices. Inflation got us all in a chokehold because why is everything like a dollar more than its normal price? If you looking to travel but don’t want to pay inflation prices, a staycation is the best option for you. Staycations are also great for a solo trip; to get used to traveling solo before you book an actual solo vacation.

Staycation is exploring your city or some surrounding cities by participating in leisure activities. Staycations can be one day or an entire weekend. As a DMV native, I stay a weekend in a hotel or airbnb and explore that town. Here’s some of my suggestions for a staycation in D.C., Maryland, or Virginia:

1. Baltimore.

Baltimore is home to the O’s and Wire. Baltimore has a rich Black history as well as crab culture.

Where to stay: Stay in this airbnb in Fells Point, Baltimore and walk to the bars and nightlife. This spacious airbnb is perfect for a girls night out, solo or couples. It is in the heart of Fells point and includes a parking garage (which is necessary in Fells point).

Where to eat: Brunch: Twist

Dinner: Choptank Oyster Bar

Things to do: Orioles baseball game

2. Washington D.C.

Washington D.C. also has rich Black history and known for its fabulous brunches. Washington D.C. is a good staycation if you are looking for museums and a good turn up vibe.

Where to stay: Hotel Zena. This hotel’s ambience gives girls weekend or solo trip vibes. It is engulfed with women’s history and art from women throughout the hotel. The room is cozy and the shower of this hotel is unique and artsy.

3. Knoxville, Maryland

If you are looking for an off-radar destination, Knoxville is the city for you. This city is apart of Frederick, Maryland and known for its country and farm life. Knoxville is perfect for a couple’s getaway or solo trip.

Where to stay: This tiny house airbnb is a great place to stay if you are looking for off-grid vacation. The house is situated on acres of land; can be best described as quaint and beautiful.
