As a black woman who enjoys luxury activities that's fun, engaging, and endless alcohol, Royal Ascot encompasses it all. Royal Ascot is like the Kentucky Derby but with Royal family in England. Known for its ties to Britain royalty, Royal Ascot is the most popular event for celebrities and socialites. I visited Royal Ascot last year and loved the luxury experience, opulence, and exclusivity. Visit the Royal Ascot in 2024 for a luxury experience. Here’s some details and suggestions:

Dates: June 18-22, 2024

Where: Berkshire, England

Price: $119 USD for Queen Anne Enclosure. This includes access to public enclosure, coveted Parade Ring, Bandstand, and Grandstand. The website also details the semi-private clubs and seating options such as The Garden Club and The Terrace Club. Please note: these prices are separate and optional from standard ticket.

Dress Code: As lux girls, the dress code encompasses luxury, fashion, grace, and sophistication. This includes a dress with shoulder or halter neck straps, a hat, headpiece, or fascinator and cute flats or heels.

Dress Code to Avoid: Sheer, strapless or one shoulder dresses, visible madriffs, denim, leggings, sneakers, and shorts.

What to Expect: Doors open at 10am but the races do not start until 2pm. Many people get there at 11 am to enjoy breakfast. We decided to eat complimentary breakfast at the hotel and enjoy the races at 2pm. We were, however, bummed that we missed afternoon tea with champagne at Royal Ascot so I suggest getting there early for the tea experience.

There’s food and drink at the racecourse—reasonably price—with a range of beer, wine, and food options. Seating can be crowded so expect to wait for seats in the food/dining area. I recommend buying the club seating options for guaranteed seating.

Most people are friendly and enjoy the company of Black American women so embrace the conversations and invites to join the party.

Betting is apart of the event but optional. I recommend visiting the event Thursday and Friday for optimal fun and enjoyment.

Where to Stay: The Royal Lancaster London

This luxury 5-star hotel located in London is a perfect hotel for the American lux girls to experience royalty while in UK. This hotel includes a variety of hotel rooms and suites as well as fitness center, restaurant, and lounge bar. There’s even an afternoon tea option. For about $400/night, this hotel is great accommodation while visiting Royal Ascot. For parties of 3 or more, book the family room as European hotels are typically smaller than US hotels. Please note: the hotel is about an hour away from Berkshire, England. You will need to invest in a driver or car to get to Royal Ascot.

Royal Ascot is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that has changed to once-a-year experience for me. I loved mingling with the socialites but also enjoying a lux lifestyle while in UK. This year, I plan on buying club seating options and enjoying the races and social event. I hope to see some of my BAPS (Black American Princesses) there!
