As a black woman , it’s very important to have a variety of experiences and events to look forward to. There’s something for the sports girls and music enthusiasts. Here’s 10 events happening in 2024 that we highly recommend you attend.

  1. NBA All Star Weekend

    Where: Indianapolis, Indiana

The NBA’s All Star Weekend is an annual event that showcases the best players in the league . All Star Weekend features events such as the All-Star Game, the Rising Stars Challenge and the Slam Dunk Contest. Many celebrities come out for All Star Weekend for exclusive performances and giveaways.

2. AfroPunk

Where: Atlanta, GA

When: August 23-25, 2024

AfroPunk is a cultural festival that celebrates diversity and inclusion-features music, film, fashion, and art produced by alternative black artists. The vibes and photos of AfroPunk is iconic, eclectic, and memorable.

3. Rolling Loud Festival

Where: Ingelwood , CA

When: March 15-17, 2024

Rolling Loud is one of the biggest hip hop festivals in the United States . It’s the perfect event for hip-hop fans looking to experience the energy and excitement of live music from Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, and Future (just to name a few).

4. Jamaica Carnival

Where: Kingston Jamaica

When: April 3-9, 2024

Jamaica Carnival is an annual event that celebrates the Jamaica and Caribbean culture. Carnival celebrates the rebellion and freedom of the enslaved cultures. Women dress in extravagant festival costumes with beads, sequins and headpieces.

5. Soul Summit Block Party

Where: Harlem, NYC

When: July 2024

Celebrating Black music and culture, iconic Harlem host a block party during the summer. The block party will include concert performances, blacck-owned businesses, dance battles, poetry slams, and so much more.

6. American Black Film Festival

Where: Miami, Florida

When: June 12- 16th, 2024

The American Black Film Festival is an annual event that empowers Black artists and showcases a wide range of entertainment content made by and about people of African descent. An experience like no other, the festival brings together Black culture enthusiasts, executives and content creators from around the world for five days of screenings, talk events, exclusive parties and high-powered networking in Miami Beach. 

7. Royal Ascot

Where: Berkshire England

When: June 18-22, 2024

Royal Ascot is one of the world’s most famous horse racing events. This event is held annually at Ascot Horse Race Course in Berkshire, England. It is attended by the royal family and is known for its elegance and style. It’s a perfect event for those who love horse racing and fashion .

8. Essence Fest 

Where: New Orleans, Louisiana

When: July 4-7, 2024

This is the largest yearly music festival in the country that celebrates African-American culture. The event was originally planned as a one-time event to celebrate the silver jubilee of  Essence magazine. Famous as the party with a purpose, the event’s success encouraged the organizers to make it into an annual music festival. The main idea behind the event is to empower and offer a platform to musicians, artists, speakers, and entrepreneurs of the African-American community.

9. U.S. Open (Tennis)

Where: Flushing Meadows (New York City, USA)

When: August 26– September 8, 2024

U.S. Open is an annual tennis tournament that consists of five primary championships. This is a great place to watch tennis, network, and enjoy NYC summer breeze.

10. VC Polo Classic

Where: Los Angeles, CA

When: Saturday October 5, 2024

The VC Polo Classic also known as The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic is a fun event to attend for my bougie girls. It mixes fun flower dresses with polo classic theme: polo match, picnicking, and champagne sipping. This is a great photo op opportunity and a way to meet other bougie ladies.
